Delivery of Civil Works for the Opening up Our Reservoirs Project Phase 2 – Hope Valley Reservoir Barossa Reservoir & Warren Reservoir.

Following the successful delivery of civil works at other SA Water Reservoirs, Team Civil was engaged to conduct similar works at Hope Valley Reservoir, Barossa Reservoir and Warren Reservoir. These works required a “soft touch” approach, with works carried out in an aesthetically pleasing way to ensure that the new infrastructure complimented the landscape as much as practicable. The delivery of the works was completed as scheduled and opened to the general public prior to Christmas 2020.

Scope of works performed:

Hope Valley Reservoir

  • Construction of new combined use (pedestrians & cyclists) walking trails in accordance with AS2156.1 and AS2156.2.
  • Installation of picnic settings, bench seats, bollards, and bike racks.
  • Tree trimming, chipping, and removal.
  • Increasing the height of the council listed heritage dam wall and upgrading the auxiliary spillway.
  • Formalising the existing Lyons Rd carpark and stormwater management to facilitate public access.
  • Connection of sewer, potable water, and electrical services for two toilet installations from site boundary to toilet installation sites.
  • Installation of visitor platforms on the dam wall.
  • General tidy-up of site to the West of the Dam wall including removal of old pipe, plant, spoil etc.

Warren Reservoir

  • Formalising the existing carpark and stormwater management to facilitate public access.
  • Installation of picnic settings & bench seats.
  • Tree trimming, removal, and chipping.

Barossa Reservoir

  • Formalising existing carpark, including stormwater infrastructure.
  • Installation of SA Water issued picnic settings.
  • Tree remediation on site, eg. trimming and chipping of removed trees.
  • Demolition of existing reservoir keeper’s house.
  • Clean up of site with removal of old machinery and surplus fencing.
