Seaview Road, Henley Beach Dogleg

Team Civil was engaged to install a dogleg water main in the Seaview Road alignment, as night works on behalf of SA Water.  Ahead of the scheduled works, Team Civil suggested modifications to the dogleg which improved safety of the work crew by reducing the need for the installation of shore boxes and allowed the dogleg pipeline to be constructed in two sections in the workshop, including Denso wrapping of the joints. By delivering the pipeline to site in pre-constructed sections, with no shore boxes, the works was completed in one night instead of the two nights which limited the impact on the local residents and businesses in the area.

Scope of works performed:

Scope of works performed on Seaview Road, Henley Beach Dogleg were as follows:

  • Team Civil Project Manager redesigned water main dogleg to improve safety of the works, reducing the requirement for the work crew to enter the deep excavation in the shore boxes.
  • Organised 3rd party accredited traffic management for project including DIT permit. Noting the works had to be completed as night works and Team Civil were required to be off the road by 6am the next morning.
  • Day before the works, temporary signage and barriers installed to prevent cars parking within the construction zone. Also, a work crew were used to saw cut the construction footprint in the road alignment.
  • Mobilised to site, with light tower, shoring, all plant and equipment.
  • Installed temporary signage and barriers to divert pedestrians and cyclists from the construction area.
  • Excavated bitumen and concrete from construction footprint, with material removed from site in Team Civil trucks where it was temporary stored at Team Civil yard for disposal at the waste accepting facility.
  • Installed shoring and excavated around multiple services in the construction footprint.
  • Installed DICL/PVC dogleg ensuring all connections were denso wrapped.
  • Thrust blocks installed at the two ends, encapsulating the puddle flanges and connected the dogleg to the existing water main.
  • Backfilled construction footprint and removed all signage, flagging, sediment, light tower and shoring from site.
  • Asphalt contractor reinstated the bitumen, prior to traffic management demobilising from site.
