Happy Valley Channel Crossing

Works included demolition of the existing crossing, associated earthworks and batter reconstruction, and construction of a new reinforced concrete crossing. The upgraded crossing improves resilience to stormwater flows while maintaining safe access for both pedestrians and maintenance vehicles within the reservoir reserve.

Scope of works performed:

Team Civil was engaged to conduct the following

  • Replacement of the existing trail crossing over the Happy Valley Reservoir Reserve catch drain following significant storm damage, erosion and structural deterioration.
  • Demolition and removal of the existing crossing, including vegetation clearing, earthworks and reconstruction of batters in accordance with the GHD design.
  • Construction of a new reinforced concrete crossing designed to safely accommodate pedestrians and maintenance vehicles.
  • Improved stormwater resilience, providing a robust crossing capable of withstanding high-flow events and reducing future maintenance requirements.
  • Maintained catch drain functionality, ensuring polluted urban runoff continues to be diverted away from the Happy Valley Reservoir to protect water quality.
  • Strong environmental controls implemented throughout construction to minimise sediment movement and protect the reservoir catchment.
  • Collaborative delivery with SA Water and GHD, coordinating construction within the publicly accessible reserve while maintaining safe access and minimising disruption
