Happy Valley Reservoir Creek Rehabilitation

Team Civil was engaged by SA Water to reduce the impact of erosion on the creek and road crossing, through the construction of stormwater infrastructure within the creek. 

Scope of works performed:

Scope of works performed at Happy Valley Reservoir were as follows:

  • Mobilise to site and set up temporary facilities.
  • Engage surveyor to peg the extent of the works, in consultation with SA Water.
  • Install temporary water pumps to remove excess water from the channel, including during stormwater events.
  • Remove grass, topsoil, and exotic trees within the Workzone and dispose of materials in SA Water approved spoil site.
  • Remove rubbish/debris and concrete from the base of the channel up to the face of ford crossing.
  • Excavate and widen the base of the channel, up to 5m and construct new batters to match supplied design.
  • Transport materials and install a new subbase infill in base of channel, compacting in between layers.
  • Install 1.5m wide formwork (including reinforcement and reno mattress lacer bars) at face of the ford and install concrete.
  • Supply and install reno mattresses in the base of the channel, following the contours of the base and batters.
  • Install rock armouring at the face of the ford and along the edges of the reno mattresses.
  • Install concrete between the interface of the reno mattress and Ford crossing concrete.
  • Install coir mesh, once complete the batters with coir mesh to be hydro seeded with native seed mix supplied by SA Water.
  • Clean up the site and remove any temporary facilities.
  • Provide as-constructed drawings to SA Water.
