Myponga Reservoir Open Access Project

This project was the first stage of civil works that Team Civil completed as part of the Opening Up Our Reservoirs Project. The then premier of South Australia Steven Marshall requested SA Water, as part of of the governments election promise, to create recreational facilities in SA Water reservoirs. The works completed included walking trails, decking and stormwater infrastructure.

Scope of works performed:

The works associated with the Myponga Reservoir Open Access Project included the following, but not limited to:

  • Construction completed at the personal request of the South Australian Premier Steven Marshall to maintain his election promise to open access to SA Water reservoirs.
  • Construction conducted and completed in a restricted timeframe.
  • Stakeholder Management of all areas of work, including communication to businesses and residents.
  • Implementation of an Environmental Management Plan and ongoing administration ensuring compliance within culturally sensitive areas.
  • Implementation of traffic management ensuring residents and pedestrians were not impacted by the works, along with maintaining pedestrian access to existing tracks and for emergency services.
  • Note traffic management was controlled internally as several employees in Team Civil maintain work-zone traffic management certificates.
  • Upgrade of 4km of road access tracks, 3km of walking paths, new recreational facilities (new lookouts), stormwater drainage piping, swale drain construction (including blue stone rock armouring), security, fencing, demolition and bulk earthworks.
  • Completed As-Constructed drawings, Materials Data Report (MDR), construction and network verification quality outputs, material certification, etc. submitted to SA Water on project completion for all sites including lot management.
