SA Water engaged Team Civil to replace the existing cathodic protection system on the DN750 MSCL trunk water main which had exceeded its design life and expand the system to improve cathodic protection in some areas of the pipeline which were under protected.

Scope of works performed:

The scope of the works is as follows:

  • Stakeholder Management of all areas of work, including notifications to businesses and residents.
  • Implementation of Environmental Management Plan and ongoing administration.
  • Multiple traffic management setups on DPTI roads on both day and night shifts.
  • Cutting and Removal of bitumen on both DPTI roads and council side roads.
  • Removal of concrete pram ramps and footpaths.
  • Pipe excavations and coating inspections.
  • Live tapping of the MSCL water mains in multiple areas.
  • Boundary assembly installations from the water mains.
  • Vertical drilling to a depth of 6.5 metres inclusive of steel sleeve cassions, to account for the ground water then installing the ground enhancement material. A total of 24 separate vertical drills across 3 separate sites.
  • Open excavation trenching of new water mains electrical and Communications Conduits on Port Rd.
  • Horizontal drilling of new water mains electrical and Communications Conduits on Port Rd.
  • Modifications to medium-diameter concrete stormwater infrastructure.
  • SAPN modifications to pad mount transformers and extensions of Low voltage network. Noting all SAPN infrastructure performed by Team Civil, cabling on the SAPN network was completed by SAPN.
  • Reinstatement of curbing and asphalt to DPTI standards along Old Port Rd and Port Rd.
  • Landscaping reinstatement and remediation works.
  • Irrigation and dripper systems required for SA Water.
  • Cable Hauling & LV Consumer Mains Connections along the alignment.
  • Installation of 5 separate main switchboards for the new Cathodic Protection infrastructure, inclusive of commissioning outputs.
  • Installation and commissioning of the SCADA network for the project.
  • Ongoing survey and final survey for inclusion to As Constructed drawings.
