Delivery of Civil Works for the Opening up Our Reservoirs Project Phase 3 – Happy Valley Reservoir, Barossa Reservoir & Mt. Bold Reservoir.

Team Civil was provided with concept drawings to deliver the final civil works package for Phase 3 Opening Up Our Reservoirs Project. As part of the process Team Civil engaged the services of WGA to develop designs for the pedestrian bridge and boardwalk at Happy Valley Reservoir and a boardwalk lookout at Mt. Bold Reservoir. All structures were designed, approved and constructed within 6 months of been awarded the project as well as simultaneously delivering the remaining civil works for the project ( eg. self sufficient toilet blocks, 3 carparks, walking trails and a DDA compliant walking ramp) at Happy Valley Reservoir, Mt.Bold Reservoir and Barossa Reservoir.

Scope of works performed:

Happy Valley Reservoir

  • Construction of new walking trails.
  • Installation of DDA compliant BBQs, bench seats, bollards, and bike racks.
  • Tree trimming, chipping, and removal.
  • Construction of two new bitumen carparks and infrastructure, including the design and construction of a new slip lane from the roadside into a new carpark.
  • Bulk earthworks associated with both carparks, removal of unsuitable subgrade material and replacement with suitable subgrade.
  • Connection of sewer, potable water, and electrical services for four toilets.
  • Installation and commissioning of SAPN infrastructure for the toilet blocks in the southern and western carparks.
  • Design and construct a pedestrian bridge over a drainage channel, boardwalk and supporting infrastructure using Fibreglass Reinforced Polymer material.
  • Management of lifting the constructed pedestrian bridge into place, including ensuring a lift plan and soil-bearing capacity was conducted.
  • Installation of stormwater infrastructure including swales, pipe and headwalls, box culverts and rock lining of the swales.
  • Installation of wayfinding signs along existing and new trails.

Mt. Bold Reservoir

  • Construction of new carpark, including the installation of DDA compliant carparking space, wheel stops, large rock installation around the perimeter of the carpark and stormwater infrastructure.
  • Design and construct new lookout using Fibreglass Reinforced Polymer material, including new cement treated walking track leading to the lookout.
  • Construction of new DDA compliant self-sufficient toilet block facility, including solar panel installation.
  • Installation of wayfinding signs along existing trails.

Barossa Reservoir

  • Upgrading of existing carpark, with resurfacing of the carpark, line marking and wheel stop installation.
  • Modify existing pedestrian ramps either side of the whispering wall to make them DDA compliant, including the installation of a new survey marker and exposed aggregate footpaths.
