Oakland Park – Rail Crossing on Morphett Road

As part of the construction of the Oaklands Rail Crossing by Department for Transport Energy & Infrastructure, SA Water’s DN80-Dn100 water main was relocated and new cathodic protection installed to provide protection. Team Civil was engaged to install cathodic protection along the pipeline alignment, ie. installation of insulated joints, bond cables, etc.  and confirm the system was operational.

Scope of works performed:

Cathodic protection works included:

  • Development and implementation of project management plan.
  • Installation of Cathodic Protection (CP) on MSCL piping (DN80-DN600) both in workshop and onsite.
  • Torquing of bolted insulated joints to SA Water requirements.
  • Denso wrapping and continuity testing of the wrapping.
  • Connection of bond cables from the pipe to the pit.
  • Supply of Electrical Certificate of Conformance.
  • Installation of stainless-steel labeling tags on the insulated joints.
  • Testing and commissioning of the cathodic protection system.
  • Provision of all Quality documentation associated with the works including the following:
    • Inspection and Test Plans and checklists.
    • Calibration certificates for electrical test equipment and torque tools.
    • Photos and electrical certificate of compliance.
    • Materials certificates.
    • Provision of specialist cathodic protection drawings for the work.
